INGREDIENTS:

  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 TBS cocoa powder
  • ¼ tsp sea salt
  • 10 oz bittersweet or semisweet chocolate* (1 ½ cup)
  • ½ cup salted butter
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 vanilla beans, scrape the inside pod
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup of mix-ins chocolate chips, nuts, etc. if desired

INSTRUCTIONS:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8” baking dish with parchment paper.

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate and the butter together and let it cool slightly.

10 oz bittersweet or semisweet chocolate* (1 ½ cup)
½ cup salted butter

In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs first until pale and thick then add in sugar and vanilla until well combined. Slowly pour in the melted butter, stirring continuously.

¾ cup granulated sugar
2 vanilla beans, scrape the inside pod
2 large eggs

Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt, and gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Once the batter is smooth and luscious, fold in the chocolate chips, reserving a handful for topping.

2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1 TBS cocoa powder
¼ tsp sea salt
½ cup of mix-ins chocolate chips, nuts, etc. if desired

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly with a spatula. Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top, adding an extra layer of decadence to your brownies. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Place brownie pan on a wire cooling rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and serve.

Tips and tricks for perfect brownies

Here are some additional tips and tricks to ensure your brownies turn out perfect every time:

  1. Use good quality chocolate: The flavor of your brownies largely depends on the chocolate you use. Opt for high-quality chocolate with a high percentage of cocoa for a rich and intense taste.

  2. Don't overmix the batter: When adding the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, be careful not to overmix. Overmixing can result in dense and tough brownies. Fold the ingredients gently until just combined.

  3. Line the baking dish with parchment paper: This will make it easier to remove the brownies from the pan and prevent them from sticking. It also helps with even baking.

  4. Don't overbake: Keep a close eye on the baking time. Brownies are best when they are slightly fudgy in the center. Remember that they will continue to cook a bit even after you take them out of the oven.

  5. Let them cool completely: It's tempting to dig into warm brownies, but they need time to set and develop their flavors. Allow them to cool completely before cutting into squares for the perfect texture.
